First: Updates
The Cornell PTO board along with the teachers, staff, and students at Cornell want to say THANK YOU!! to everyone who donated their time, money, or both to help make the Wolf Pack Run a success! We were able to raise $18,927.95 out of our stated goal of $20k.
Because we’re so, so close to our goal, we’re going to keep accepting donations towards prizes until the end of the week.
If we can raise at least $1,072.05 before Friday, October 6, Mrs. Ojerio has agreed to let us duct tape her to a wall one afternoon!!
She’s such a great sport, and we’d love to see the smiles and hear the laughter at our silly antics. Not to mention, that dollar amount alone would ensure we can purchase new scooters for every student to use in PE class!
Second: News
As a school, Cornell is building a homecoming float for the parade scheduled for this Friday, October 6. The overall theme is “movies,” and from there we decided to stick with the OPS theme of “home.”
After distilling down our choices, we believe all (including the students!) have agreed on Encanto as our float’s theme! We’re excited to get together as a school community to help build and then proudly display our work in the parade as part of a larger community of learners. Thank you to the attendees of our most recent PTO meeting, as they were a great source of ideas! I can’t think of a better or more literal example of a community coming together as a family to help each other out.
Details:
Barring unforeseen circumstances (rain, sudden illness of coordinators), we are planning to assemble and build the majority of the float on Wednesday, October 4, at Cornell from about 4:30 until 6:30pm. We will keep parents updated, especially those who express interest in helping!
If you would like to walk alongside the float in the parade, please meet us by the float at 4:45pm at the 2/42 church overflow lot, or the farthest west parking lot 2/42 has. Participants may be dropped off at Bennett Woods elementary and then walk to us at 2/42 (crossing guards present). Parking is available at Bennett Woods or in the neighborhoods. The parade will start at 5:30pm flowing south down Hulett Road and end in the Student Parking lot – not the stadium lot. Bring candy if you can! See you Wednesday and Friday!!
