Kindergarten Lunch Help

Cornell PTO's avatarPosted by

We have a bunch of new Kindergarten Wolves starting at Cornell. PTO is organizing volunteers to help out the Kindergarten teachers and lunch staff for the first couple weeks of school until the new students have learned the routine.

We need a handful of people each day who can:

  • Guide students to their lunch tables and seats.
  • Teach students how to open their lunch boxes and food wrappers.
  • Teach students how to get school lunch.
  • Remind students to stay in their seats, raise their hands, and eat their lunches.
  • Show students where the restrooms and drinking fountains are located.
  • Teach students where to put away their lunch boxes.
  • Guide students to the playground.

To enter the school to volunteer, please buzz at door 1 (main door), sign in at the office, grab a volunteer badge. If it is your first time volunteering in this role, stay near the office and someone from PTO will meet you, walk you to the cafeteria, and go over what to do. If you have volunteered with this role before, and know how to get to the cafeteria, go ahead and go down and start to get ready. Please arrive by 11am. Kindergarten lunch is 11:15pm-11:35pm.  We expect volunteers to be done by 11:45pm.

Kindergarten Parents: Some kindergartners do great with seeing their parent midday at lunch, while others have a hard time with a second goodbye.  Please use your own judgement to determine if volunteering in the lunchroom will be easy or hard for your child. We want everyone to have a fantastic lunch experience!

Thank you for your help!
